Choked by gas pollution from a factory; Forced to leave your home to make way for a plantation; Threatened with violence if you question what is going on. This is what is happening to some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people because of the activities of some UK-linked companies. We wouldn’t find this acceptable – so why should they?

Responsible companies have systems in place to make sure things like this don’t happen. But at the moment there is nothing in UK criminal law to hold those companies which don’t act responsibly to account.

The Government is reviewing the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights. It’s an opportunity to commit to using the law to stop irresponsible companies causing serious harm in developing countries. But we are concerned it won’t go far enough.

To ensure that the revised action plan delivers real change, the Prime Minister must take a leading role. We need as many MPs as possible to write to the Prime Minister to ask him to do this.  Email your MP here
