Scottish Faith Action for Refugees are reporting in their current newsletter how His Holiness Pope Francis has issued a message in preparation for the 104th World Day of Migrants and Refugees on 14 January 2018, Welcoming, protecting, promoting and integrating migrants and refugees.

In the message he spoke of the great responsibility to show solidarity and welcome which is shared with all men and women of good will who are called to respond to the challenges of migration with generosity, promptness, wisdom and foresight.

Also published by the Vatican last month was Responding to Refugees and Migrants: Twenty Action Points, a call from the Catholic Church to national governments around the world to do more in the face of humanitarian emergencies and the reality of global mass displacement.

The paper was written by the Vatican’s Section on Migrants & Refugees (Dicastery for promoting Integral Human Development), which operates under the direction of Pope Francis.  The document will contribute to the global compacts on refugees and migration which are currently being drafted and expected to be adopted at the UN General Assembly in September 2018.

Justice and Peace Scotland have produced the following short video on Responding to Refugees and Migrants - 20 Action Points.  You can see it here
