Glasgow and Edinburgh 14th September
Pat Gaffney, Secretary General of Pax Christi, will be visiting Scotland on Wednesday 14 September. Pat recently attended a conference in Rome on Non-violence and Just Peace, which delivered an appeal to the Church to re-commit to the centrality of Gospel nonviolence. Pat will be speaking at three meetings.
12.15pm at Renfield St. Stephen's Centre, 260, Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4JP, when she will speak at an open meeting organised by SCANA. This meeting will look at the present situation, especially in the light of UK decisions on Trident and what faith communities can do to work for peace, disarmament and reconciliation.
2.30pm, again at Renfield St Stephen’s, Pat will introduce a more theologically oriented discussion which will include an assessment of the Rome conference. This open meeting will end by 4pm.
7.30pm at the Jesuit Centre, 28, Lauriston Street, Edinburgh EH3 9DJ. ‘The Church and non-violence - Just peace or just war?’ Full details on the Edinburgh event here
The visit is sponsored by the Fellowship of Reconciliation Scotland, Pax Christi, Scottish Christians Against Nuclear Arms, Justice and Peace and the Lauriston Jesuit Centre
