Four of Scotland's recently elected MEPs have signed the European Anti Poverty Network's pledge to tackle poverty.  The four who signed the pledge were Labour party MEPs David Martin and Catherine Stihler, and SNP MEPs Alyn Smith and Ian Hughton.

European Anti Poverty National Networks have approached their national candidates to the European Parliament’s elections and asked them to commit to the following:   “If elected, I commit to make the fight against poverty, social exclusion and inequality a priority item on the Parliament and EU agenda by defending the development of an explicit European anti-poverty strategy and an annual hearing of people experiencing poverty to monitor its implementation and progress.” You can read more about the pledge and find the full list of committed MEPs here.
