The Conference of European Justice and Peace Commissions (Justice and Peace Europe) have officially started its annual Concerted Action 2016 with the publication of a Basic Text which presents the theme “Growing Economic Inequality and Taxation – A Challenge for Europe and the World”, grounds it in the Catholic Social Teaching and in the recent declarations of Pope Francis, and provides some ideas for action.

Over the weekend of 5-7 February 2016, Secretaries General of European Justice and Peace Commissions gathered in Lisbon for their annual meeting. On that occasion, a study session was organised, where Professor Carlos Farinha Rodrigues gave a presentation on the matter of inequality in Portugal and Europe. Secretaries General also met His Eminence Cardinal Manuel Clemente, the Patriarch of Lisbon, for an exchange about Church and society in Portugal.
